The Antebellum Marine Band is a community based ensemble comprised of working adult musicians and select high school age musicians.
The band has a repertoire spanning the beginning period of wind band music in the US and prefers to keep a limit to this up to the first decade of the 20th century.
The ability to read music is a must for members due to our limited rehearsal schedule. Private instruction in the basics is not part of rehearsal, citing the directors prerogative in not selecting younger players who may lack the proper level of musicianship to participate.
We are evolving the look of the band for the red-coated uniform of the US Marine Band of the 1860’s through the Sousa era, so there will be more of an effort at a more period correct appearance as we grow.
